Buying Cranes from Turkey: What to Check Before You Order

CESAN Cranes & Components2 min read

If you are comparing crane suppliers across countries, the country of manufacture matters less than what the supplier can show you. This guide lists what to check, and shows what you can expect from a Turkish manufacturer such as CESAN.

About CESAN

CESAN Cranes & Components has manufactured industrial lifting equipment in Turkey since 1976. It has delivered projects in more than 52 countries. The factory, headquarters, sales and after-sales are in Turkey, with one office in Dubai.

What CESAN supplies

  • Overhead cranes, single and double girder.
  • Gantry and semi-gantry cranes.
  • Jib cranes.
  • Wire rope hoists and electric chain hoists.
  • Transfer carts and below-the-hook attachments.
  • Spare parts and modernization of existing cranes.

What to check in any crane supplier

  • Design standard: which standard is the crane designed to, and can they show it?
  • Duty class: is it based on your real operating cycle?
  • Documents: CE declaration, test records and manuals.
  • Scope: what is included besides the crane itself.
  • Installation: who installs and commissions, and who performs the load test?
  • Spare parts: how they are supplied after handover.
  • References: experience with projects like yours.

Factory and engineering in one place

When design, manufacture and after-sales sit in the same company, questions go to one team. Your engineer can discuss the specification with the people who design and build the crane.

Installation and commissioning

CESAN carries out installation and commissioning on site in any country. Clients who prefer to install the equipment themselves may do so. The load test is part of commissioning.

Shipping and delivery

Cranes are shipped from Turkey to the project site. Delivery time depends on the scope and is confirmed with the quotation. Ask every supplier to state the delivery terms and the scope they cover.

Standards and certificates

CESAN cranes carry the CE mark. The company holds ISO 9001 and TSE certificates. Design follows standards such as FEM 1.001, EN 13001 and ISO 4301. Read more in our guide to CE, FEM and DIN for crane buyers.

Questions to put to every supplier

  • Which design standard and duty class does your offer use?
  • Which documents do we receive at handover?
  • Who installs and commissions on site?
  • How are spare parts supplied and how fast can you answer a service request?

Send us your requirements

To start, send the type of crane, capacity, span, lifting height, site country and the scope you need. Send them through the enquiry form and our engineers will reply with a technical and budgetary assessment.
